2025 Ford Mustang GTD Release Date
Ford Set to Unleash All-New Mustang GTD for 2025
The Ford Mustang is an American icon and the originator of the term "pony car." It has long been renowned for its blend of muscle car thrills and daily drivability, offering potent performance options, comfortable passenger accommodations, and several desirable amenities. Of course, with every Mustang generation, Ford has unveiled a few limited-edition specialty models that stand out with upgraded performance and exclusive design details. But none have been quite as exhilarating as the upcoming Mustang GTD.
All-new for the 2025 model year, the Ford Mustang GTD is street-legal, but barely. It shares a majority of its components with the raucous Mustang GT3 racecar, albeit with a few important adjustments to ensure its compatibility with public roads. However, as with any Mustang variant, you'll need a track to experience the full performance potential. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights.

Powertrain
While the Ford Mustang GTD is inspired by the GT3 race car, it isn't bound by competition rules. So Ford took the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 from the Shelby GT500 and modified it to produce more than 800 horsepower. A dry sump oil system allows for oil capacity and better distribution, ensuring critical components stay lubed up even under high G forces.
Handling
A lightweight carbon-fiber drive shaft and an 8-speed rear transaxle contribute to a near 50/50 weight distribution. The innovative semi-active suspension system features hydraulic control and a Track Mode that can lower the vehicle by nearly four centimeters. The Mustang GTD also boasts equipment like forged carbon-ceramic brakes, fixed and active aerodynamic elements, and a large rear wing. The attributes combine to deliver a firmly planted handling experience with excellent high-G cornering, which will come in handy as the automaker tries to complete the 73 turns of the Nürburgring in under seven minutes
Interior and Technology
While a race car at its core, the Mustang GTD will also be great for daily use, thanks to its comfortable and well-bolstered seats, driver-focused layout, and ample head and leg room, even for taller drivers. The 13.2-inch touchscreen features Unreal® engine graphics and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. You'll also get a stunning 12.4-inch digital instrument panel that's customizable to your viewing preferences. When is the Mustang GTD's Release Date?
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is limited to a run of just 1,000 units, and interested enthusiasts had to submit an application-including a brief video essay-just to be considered for the opportunity to purchase one. This supercharged circuit monster is scheduled to enter production later this year, with deliveries commencing in late 2024 or early 2025.
