If it's towing and hauling capability you're after, heavy-duty trucks go beyond standard full-sized trucks. If you're looking for an especially capable vehicle, heavy-duty trucks are a must-consider. However, some trucks are specifically designed for the types of demanding work that you'd find on construction sites, farms, and other places all across the country. These trucks are heavy-duty trucks, and we at Team Ford Lincoln are proud to offer Denison, IA drivers a robust selection of heavy-duty trucks.

Made for Work

Let's look at two popular and capable trucks: the Ford F-150 and the Ford Super Duty. As mentioned, both of these trucks are quite capable, with the F-150 offering drivers an available towing capacity of up to 13,200 pounds. That's quite impressive for a truck that's technically the "little brother" of the Ford truck lineup.

Where the Super Duty earns its name, though, is in its ability to tow up to 31,900 pounds with a fifth-wheel trailer, or 18,500 pounds with a conventional trailer. This is thanks largely to its two powerful engine options, the 7.3L OHV PFI gas V8 engine or its 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine. The diesel offers 475-horsepower and 1,050 lbs.-ft. of torque, compared to the F-150's maximum 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. Torque is especially important when it comes to towing, as it allows the engine to pull heavier loads without bogging itself down/

Additionally, heavy-duty trucks utilize a longer wheelbase to be able to haul more, and many, such as the Super Duty, are available with dual rear wheels, providing extra support for especially heavy loads. Heavy-duty trucks also have a beefier transmission, allowing for that much-needed torque to get to the wheels and move that heavy load down the road.

In any event, both the Ford F-150 and the Ford Super Duty are exceptionally capable vehicles. Thanks to constant innovation in body strength, engine durability, and other important areas, the F-150 is becoming more like a heavy-duty truck with every model year.

If you're interested in any of these trucks, be sure to stop by Team Ford Lincoln to experience the differences for yourself.
